Indications for Emergency Vet Care
What does a pet emergency look like? In order to be able to recognize an emergency situation, consult the list below:
- Trouble breathing; breathing heavily or gasping
- Gagging or choking
- Cries out in pain when touched or handled
- Hemorrhaging
- Continuous vomiting or diarrhea
- Blood in vomit or stool
- Hasn’t had water or food in 24 hours
- Had multiple seizures within minutes of each other
- Got into a tussle with a wild animal
- Has lacerations or puncture wounds
- Has possible broken bones
- Got hit by a car
- Fell from a high place
- Ingested a known or potential poison
- Can’t stand or walk
- Has a fever
- May have suffered heat stroke
- Struggling or unable to eliminate
- Lost consciousness
